Coloured Canyon

Coloured Canyon takes it name after its fascinating colour and shade variations. At times one would even think that it is painted. The grind shapes of the canyon rock formations, and fossils reveal its prehistoric past under water.

Nuweiba

Nuweiba is roughly two hours from Sharm el Sheihk. The drive in itself is an attraction. One of the characteristics of Nuweiba is the fascinating landscape, having the mountains of the desert almost reaching into the sea. The southern part of the area is known for the port from where the ferry boat departs to Jordan, and last but not least, for the world famous wild Dolphin Oline. Many stories are told about the dolphin and her Bedouin friend, but one thing is for sure; she is free and she does come to him almost every day. Sherabit el Khadem

St. Catherine Monastery

Dahab

Dahab is about one hour drive from Sharm el Sheikh, and a part of the itinerary in many excursions as souvenir shopping is considered propitious. Mount Moses

Mount Moses has been given many names through out time. In the Holy books the mountain is called "Mount Horeb", but today people mostly know it as Mount Sinai or rather Mount Moses, as Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments on that very place. Pilgrims come from all over the world to watch the sunrise from the summit.

Wadi Kid

Wadi Kid is a large oasis with palm trees, groves and a well with portable water. The word "wadi" means valley, the fruitful and natural Bedouin territory in the desert, only reachable in 4 x 4 vehicles.

The Mangrove Forest

The Mangrove Forest, which is located in Nabq protected area, is essential for migratory birds as breeding area and nourishing source. The marine life also profits from the mangroves, which is furthermore preventing the shore from eroding into the sea.

Na'ama Bay

Na'ama Bay is the heart of Sharm el Sheikh, the name means "The Bay of Blessing", and it certainly is. Decades ago, this area was particularly chosen because of its rich coral reef and naturally wind and wave protected area. This is where Sharm el Sheikh began; the first hotels, the first dive centers, the first water sport activities and much more. Since that time, Sharm el Sheikh has expanded a lot but its real spirit will always remain in Na'ama bay. Ras Nusrani

Ras Nusrani is in the Nabq region which has been a protected area since 1991. A particular spot is a famous snorkeling and dive site. The Mangroves Forest, which in reality is an oasis on the beach, is also a part of the beautiful sightseeing in the park. The shore can be reached from Sharm el Sheikh by boat and by jeep.

Tiran Island

Tiran Island is a part of the national park and so are the four popular reefs in the Straits of Tiran. In our days the name "Tiran" means to us; peaceful azure blue lagoons, great snorkeling and great diving, in the past, however, the island had another purpose. An old Bedouin legend tells, that once there was a Saudi Arabian princess named Sanafir, she was deeply in love with a man called Tiran. Her father forbid their love and separated the young couple on two different islands in the Red Sea. She cried for him, he cried for her, their love meant everything to them. The brave Tiran threw himself into the waves to reach his beloved Sanafir, but he got surrounded by sharks and his days were numbered. The legend continues: "if you listen carefully, you can still hear the wind carrying the voice of the princess calling for her love". Since that time the islands are known as Tiran and Sanafir.

Fishing

Fishing is also a rewarding sport in Sharm el Sheikh. Passing the invisible border of the national park, the deep blue sea is waiting for you with its surprises.

Ras Mohammed National Park

Ras Mohammed National Park was the first national park, declared in 1989, and is located on the very south tip of South Sinai. In its northern direction it borders on Sharm el Sheikh.

Diving

The Red Sea is a diver's paradise and excellent dive sites are multiple, more than one can count on two hands. The most famous destinations however, is Ras Mohammed, Straits of Tiran and The Thistlegorm Wreck.
